Anniversary Week- Heading to the Top

Now that we've hit the one year mark, let's continue our little anniversary week.  On Monday I showed you everything we've accomplished in the Living Room, Foyer, Dinning Room and Kitchen, and Tuesday we covered the Guest Bedroom, Playroom, 2 Kid Bedrooms, Laundry and Main Bath.  Today let's take it up to the top couple of half levels, the Master Bedroom, Master Bath and Loft.

These rooms sat nearly untouched for the first 3 months we lived in the house, as the Hubs and I stayed in the Guest Bedroom until we could get this eyesore of a space habitable.

Remember this awesome old Master Bathroom with the carpet running through it?

We did work on the Loft pretty quickly though, painting it as part of our huge scaffolding paint project.

We put this room together with stuff we already had, and only had to purchase the curtains from Ikea. 

It's a fantastic little reading nook and serves its purpose for right now, although we'd definitely like to add wood floors and a new rug in Year Two.

Finally in July, it was time to get Crashed.  Bath Crashers rolled in and helped us tear down the old room.

They brought in huge wardrobes for our new closet.

Added windows to the shower and toilet room, finally getting some light in that dark alley.

And framed out a new toilet room and shower.

 

After the dust settled on that whole crazy experience, we decided to paint the bedroom the same color as they had painted the toilet room, a moody blue,

 

took a clean, crisp coat of white paint to all the trim.,

and added a modern looking ceiling fan.  Because design or no design, this girl doesn't sleep without a ceiling fan.

 

I stained our bed frame a dark walnut to match our new wardrobes, and it was FINALLY time for us to move up into our own bedroom!  (with nothing else in it.)

 

We took down the sliding blinds in the windows and the gross rocks in the ledge,

 

and were pretty shocked how much that opened our bedroom up to the entire house. 

 

We added some curtains, which I tea dyed for warmth and texture, but we'll definitely need to come up with a window solution in Year 2.  (I just wish it wasn't so expensive.)

 

To solve our lack of furniture problem, I built a modern headboard inspired by West Elm with project plans from ana-white.com.

And then built a set of modern night stands to go along with it.

 

I added some decor and art on the walls in our little toilet room, (which is impossible to photograph by the way, but it looks cute.)

 

And added some drawers to the Hub's wardrobe since he previously only had space for hanging clothes.

Bath Crashers left this shelf on the right without a face,

  So I built one and added some hardware for a cleaner look.

Eventually we took down the 7 feet of track lighting in our bathroom (after it started a fire on our ceiling,)

 And replaced it with two capiz chandeliers that I made.

And finally around Christmas, we were thrilled when Bath Crashers gave us the cash to create a closet door solution so that our closets went from this:

Only 3 rooms up here so not as many projects, but that big bathroom project was epic.  We'll always remember that crazy week when a camera crew took over our house, plumbers fell through the ceiling and we thought it would never get done.  Whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed about the project list around here, I just take a look at those before and afters and I feel much better.
