The Next Big Project

I left you guys with a pretty big cliffhanger last week.  Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement.  This hasn't been easy, selling our "Forever House."  But I'm really excited for what the future has in store.  Let me introduce you to our next adventure:

Believe it or not there's a little house behind all those vines and overgrown landscaping.  We purchased this little 1923 Bungalow just a few blocks off the lake in South Minneapolis.  In typical fashion we bought the ugliest house on the block.  In fact, it even came with with it's own wall mural.

What is with us and houses with wall murals?

If you get past the wall mural there is some pretty beautiful spaces though.

That was a while ago though.  Then this happened:

Yes, we did this on purpose.
  And then this:
It was about at this point we questioned why we didn't just knock down the whole thing.
And as of about a week ago it looked like this:

Whoa, right?  We took off the roof and added a second story.  Here's what we're hoping it's going to look like, very soon.

We wanted it to have a quaint house that fits the style and character of the neighborhood, but you can see from the side it is quite big.

Obviously the house isn't ready for us to live in yet.  That wasn't the plan.  We were supposed to be in by March 1, but I'm learning that working with construction crews instead of doing it yourself means that you can't always be in control of the timeline.  (And that other people don't share my enthusiasm for pulling all nighters.)  So in the mean time we're drifters.  Or I prefer to think of it as adventurers.  We're spending 10 days up at the cabin for spring break, which good news- is providing me with a ton of time for updates and renos.  I can't wait to show you what I've been working on!  And after that we'll stay with family, or in an extended stay hotel, and back up at the cabin... we'll play it by ear.  I'm no victim here, and the Hubs and I have vowed to make this a fun adventure for the kiddos.  Of course I'll keep you all up to date as we go.  Wish us luck!
