New Camera!

As luck would have it, the Hubs actually reads my blog, so he picked up on my not so subtle hint from this post about getting me a new camera for my birthday.  I was SUPER excited to open my fabulous new camera yesterday, and immediately took my little family out for a hike to practice photo taking.  While not necessarily home improvement related, the camera will definitely be a blog staple, so I thought I'd share with you a little of our adventure.

This fabulous wildlife preserve is within walking distance of our house, which is just 15 minutes outside of downtown Minneapolis.  It's like stepping through the wardrobe into Narnia, without having to be a total nerd.

There were prairies, woods and lakes all in this one beautiful space.  And the wildlife- it was like being at a zoo.

All the animals were so close to us, and didn't seem to mind that we were there.  This wild turkey was within 10 feet of us before I was able to get Ry to turn around and smile for me.

Our little explorer was in heaven-

I even got to try out some fun new tricks with my camera too, like this one that will allow me to get nice wide shots.

That will definitely come in handy when taking house photos, so look for new pics of The Lodge shortly!  I still have a lot to learn about the camera, but I'm already loving how my photos look crisp and clear with very little effort.  Which is good, because with all my free time, I'm not sure when I'll be able to master photography...  I'll settle for some great pics of my family on a beautiful day.

How about you guys?  Any one else upgrade cameras lately?  Any tips for me or good resources to look at?  I can use all the help I can get!

  3. I don't have the camera with me, and I'm not nearly in "the know" enough to have it memorized, but I'll follow up and tell you once I get my hands on it again!
