For two DIYers who are used to doing everything themselves (almost to a fault), having a full construction crew in our home addressing every detail of this bathroom is madness. Madness I tell you! We don't know how to relax. I keep asking people if they need any help or if there is anything I can do. Mostly they just laugh at me, and I'm hoping its at the idea of homeowners trying to help, and not that I'm a chick. Yes honey, that was my little defensive feminist thing again... sorry.
Anyway, the second part of day one was all about addressing the stuff in the walls and framing up new ones, which means our electrician, plumber, HVAC guy and contractors were really busy. I did get to assist a little in the install of our new windows though.
I felt pretty useful for all about 15 minutes, but once this bad boy was in and level they kicked me to the curb. I got out of their way so that the magic could happen, and headed outside to take these pictures of the new windows.
We're no strangers to home construction around here, but it's still pretty crazy to me that one day there can be no windows, and the next there can be two. It makes such a difference and adds so much natural light up there. Come to think of it, it is so strange that the architect of this house didn't place any windows on this exterior wall of our Master Bedroom and Bathroom. I mean, they took the time to put in three huge windows into the Living Room, but none to the great outdoors?
We've considered filling in those privacy killing windows and instead letting the sun shine in from the other side of the room, but now I'm even more intrigued. It could look something like this:
At about this time Jay was working on his first DIY project with Matt. They built a little 360 degree spinning shelf and mirror combo. Confused? So am I. We'll all have to wait until this thing is installed to see it in action.
And as I write this the contractors and drywall guy are staying late into the night to get all the sheet rock and Durock up in time for tomorrow. It's so loud, and there's no way we are going to be able to sleep tonight, but I wouldn't have been able to sleep at all anyway. Thankfully our little monkey is a DIY baby and is sleeping like, well... a baby. I can't believe how much is getting done in such a short time, and I'm so thrilled and excited to see the results! I'll give you an update on Day 2 tomorrow!
